National Order of the Cedar

The National Order of the Cedar is the highest order of merit in Lebanon, established in 1936. It is awarded by the President of Lebanon to Lebanese citizens and foreign nationals who have made significant contributions to the country's development and promoted its interests. The order currently has six grades.

The Lebanese Order of Merit

 

The Lebanese Order of Merit was established in 1922 and later regulated by legislative decree in 1959. It is awarded to individuals who perform acts of chivalry, sincerity, and service for the sake of Lebanon, and can be granted posthumously. The order has four ordinary classes, with an additional extraordinary grade added in 1930. In 1957, the Grand Cordon of The Lebanese Merit was also added to honor heads of legislative bodies, prime ministers, princes, and crown princes.
