Depending on the site you are browsing within the Turathium platform, you will find more tools that enable you to:
- Transcript and transcribe resources.
- Describe resources.
- Translate text.
You can add free-form tags to any resource while browsing.
What are tags?
Tags are uncontrolled topics that any user can add to any resource (item, item set, media).
Why should I help with tagging items?
Tags allow you to add extra data to resources so that you can:
- Accurately describe them.
- Associate individual resources with other topics.
- Aid in their classification.
How can I add tags?
The tags and tagging form are available on the item, item set or media pages towards the bottom of the page.
You can add one or multiple comma separated tags in one entry.
Best practices for tagging
Your tags must be:
- Relevant to the content.
- Balanced between specific and general.
- Spelled correctly and consistently.
User comments allow annotative participation by embedding users' viewpoints within a resource's context, providing readers with additional information, which can enrich the provided content and enhance its comprehension.
Commenting also allows engaging with other community members in discussions about any topic related to any resource.
How can I add my comments?
User comments and commenting form are available on the item, item set or media pages towards the bottom of the page.
You can add a comment or reply to an existing one.
Adding an Item
It is very easy to add an item to the Turathium platform, Choose

Engagemenu to open the
Add an Itemform. Just fill in this form then click the
Examples of items that you can add:
- An illustration, an image or a photo of an object you own.
- A link to a website.
- A definition of a technical term.
- A related discovery.
- Your related experience.
- A comment.
- A resource that's missing.
Create Online Exhibitions
Any registered user of the Turathium platform can submit a proposal to curate and build an online exhibition site.
Building an online exhibition site is a three-stage process.
Apply for your online exhibition site
- Register on the the Turathium platform.
- Explore different sites on the Turathium platform and get acquainted with sites narrative, items, item sets and media pages.
- Submit a proposal.
Prepare content for your exhibition site and build your data set
Once your proposal is approved, you will receive the Turathium Exhibit Planner Tool that will help you to:
- Understand and identify the required metadata for your items.
- Make sure that you are the copyright holder or have a copyright license from owners of all copyright or proprietary materials you plan to use on your exhibition site.
- Fill in the properties of your items.
- Prepare media files and associate them with respective items.
- Build your data set, then send it to Turathium.
Organize your exhibition site and link your data items
Turathium administration will review your data set and upload it to the platform. Your site will be published in private mode and will be available to you as a site curator. You will be able to:
- Link properties of items on your site to Turathium resources and reputable web content.
- Create item lists.
- Organise individual pages of your site and create a logical narrative sequence.
- Assign others to review your site.
- Request to publish your site publicly.
After reviewing your exhibition site, the Turathium administration will launch it publicly.
It will be your responsibility as a site curator to maintain your exhibition site. Your role includes:
- Publicize your exhibition site.
- Respond to community feedback and reply to your exhibition site enquiries.
- Respond to any copyright issues concerning your exhibition site content.
- Enhance public engagement.
- Inform the Turathium administration if you want to stop maintaining your exhibition site.
- Enjoy your role as the curator of your exhibition site.
