Georges David Corm (1896-1971) was born in Beirut and studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1919 to 1921. In 1921 he was a gold medallist at the Beirut Exhibition Fair and in 1922 won the contest for the concept of the Lebanese Order of Merit. In 1936 he became an Officer of the Académie de France and in 1955 was elected member of the Royal Society of Arts, London. Fittingly, he was awarded the Lebanese Order of Merit in 1937.
