In the center a hole flanked by lion heads and olive twigs of 21 leaves on each side;
Top inscription: the denomination in Arabic "غرش واحد";
Bottom inscription: the denomination in French "1 PIASTRE 1";
Year of issue in both numerals Arabic and western is on the bottom.

Torch on reverse. Control marks are on both sides of the denomination on the bottom: Cornucopia on the left side and Torch on the right side.
